Careem: app-set fares with dynamic pricing
Careem calculates the fare for you and shows an estimate before you book. Like most large ride-hailing apps, it uses dynamic pricing — fares can rise when demand is high, such as rush hour or bad weather. It offers several vehicle categories and is widely available across Pakistani cities.
inDrive: you propose the fare
inDrive works differently: the passenger proposes a price, and drivers accept it or counter with their own. That can work out cheap if you know what a trip should cost — and expensive, or slow, if you do not. The final fare depends on the negotiation, not a published rate.
Drivio: a published per-km fare, no surge
Drivio publishes its rates and uses one formula: base fare plus a per-km rate for your route — for example Rs 50 + Rs 18/km on a bike and Rs 120 + Rs 38/km in a car. There is no surge multiplier. Every rider is KYC-verified by a person, including a police character certificate, and payment for pool and rental bookings is held in escrow until the trip completes.
